Kids and adults give new NEOS playground game station a whirl at Wilson Playfields in Kent

NEOS, an interactive electronic playground game station where players move from one area to another to hit flashing lights on monitors before the lights disappear, debuted Oct. 2 at the Wilson Playfields, 13028 S.E. 251st St., on Kent's East Hill. The game station is expected to appeal to adults as well, which could mean showdowns between parents and their kids.

NEOS is manufactured by Pennsylvania-based Playworld Systems Inc. Kent park officials bought the game for $16,000 from Northwest Playground Equipment of Issaquah.

Kids and adults alike were happy to give the playground equipment a try during the Oct. 2 dedication.

Town Readies for High Tech Playground NEOS

SWANSBORO — Playtime in the Town of Swansboro is going high-tech.

An electronic play system will be one of the features of a new playground designed to be a unique attraction as well as offer challenging fun for area youth.

The NEOS 360 offers a variety of games for solo or team players. It is fun and fitness combined as youth race to hit the blinking lights.

Game lighting up Overlook Park

Jim Martin had barely finished working up a good sweat playing the futuristic-looking game in Overlook Park when he got a challenge from another player.

Jim Bohan, chairman of Manheim Township's parks and recreation board, said he and his board members could give Martin and his fellow township commissioners a game.

Martin, who had just done a practice run on a hot day on a new interactive exercise game called NEOS, flashed a smile.

Playworld Systems, Inc. Awards Second NEOS® Grant
Playworld Systems, Inc. announced today the recipient of the latest NEOS® grant program. The recipient, Weld County Health Department, will install the new NEOS® at the Greeley Family Fun Plex in Greeley, Colorado, bringing electronic gaming to the area.


2008 IDEA Winners Revealed
NEOS® Selected as Leisure & Recreation Finalists

The best global design of 2008 has been revealed with the announcement of the winners of IDSA and BusinessWeek's International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).

Out of 1517 entries, 35 were awarded the coveted Gold award, while 77 received Silver awards and 93 won Bronze awards. For the first time this year, 389 finalists were named in addition to the winners.

Showing a continuing upward trend in international participation, 109 designs from 25 countries outside the US were given an IDEA Award: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, People's Republic of China, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

BusinessWeek announced the winners July 18 with an in-depth analysis of the winners in print and online. IDSA’s quarterly magazine, Innovation, will publish information on the Gold, Bronze and Silver winners as well as the finalists in its Yearbook of Design Excellence this fall.

Playworld Systems, Inc. awards NEOS™ grant to Scottsdale Public School District in Arizona. This grant will provide an elementary school new, interactive playground technology, NEOS™.
